Cinema "Le Versailles"

This year, there are two films with very different themes and moods.

On Tuesday 6 August at 4pm, there will be plenty of positive vibes with a film from 2022 that has remained in the shadows. A true story that highlights the role that culture and so-called 'classical' music can and should play in our often multicultural and sometimes polarised societies. Divertimento is the story of conductor Zahia Ziouani and her cellist sister, Fettouma Ziouani. 25 years ago, the two created the Divertimento philharmonic orchestra, which performs several times a year in Allonnes and in working-class neighbourhoods across France.

The following week, on Tuesday 13 August at 4pm, another atmosphere and another facet of music directly linked to the festival programme on the same day. We've enjoyed them on stage and in the cellars, but what about the life of a quartet off stage? A Late Quartet is an American film directed by Yaron Zilberman and released in 2012. The members of an internationally renowned string quartet are torn apart by the news that the cellist is ill: betrayal of love, power struggles and outbursts of desire. The superb actors perform to a soundtrack that is sure to delight the ears of music lovers: Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C sharp minor, Op. 131.

Tickets €7.
