From Debussy to Bartok: around the Belle Epoque
Toon Fret, flute
Veronika Iltchenko, piano
With its natural breathing and voluptuous sonorities, the flute occupies a special place in the post-Romantic repertoire. Toon Fret is a regular performer at the Stavelot Festival, and audiences are always delighted to see him again. Together with his piano partner, they will take us on a journey through what has often been unfairly called the 'Belle Epoque'. Alongside a tribute to Gabriel Fauré (in honour of his centenary...), the programme for this varied concert includes works by Claude Debussy, Mel Bonis (a disciple of César Franck) and Bela Bartok.
Program :
Claude Debussy: Chansons de Bilitis
Gabriel Fauré: Fantaisie op. 79
Mel Bonis: Sonata for flute and piano op. 64
Bela Bartok: Hungarian Peasant Suite
