François Joubert-Caillet is associate artist of the Festivals de Wallonie 2025.
This unique programme illustrates the meeting of two exceptional musicians: Astor Piazzolla and Nadia Boulanger, highlighting their respective roots. Astor Piazzolla draws inspiration from Carlos Gardel and Alberto Ginastera, while Nadia Boulanger draws on the world of Gabriel Fauré, Igor Stravinsky and early music. The mirrored conversation between the ‘classical’ modern pieces and the arrangements of Astor Piazzolla themes from this Parisian period are just like the bandoneon's encounter with the viols: surprising, magical, unheard-of.
