Born in Fribourg into an American-Iranian family, Muriel Razavi trained with eminent teachers in Berlin and Leipzig. She is a member of several ensembles, including Daniel Barenboïm's West Eastern Divan, and has won several prizes: the Citta di Cremona Competition, 1st Prize at the Washington String Competition, etc. She has begun a doctoral programme at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg under the supervision of Daniel Barenboïm. She has just been appointed professor of viola at the Salzburg Mozarteum and the University of Trossingen. She regularly plays a modern viola by Patrick Robin.
