Born in Fribourg into an American-Iranian family, Muriel Razavi trained with eminent teachers in Berlin and Leipzig. She has been a member of several ensembles, including Daniel Barenboim's West Eastern Divan, and is a prizewinner at the Città di Cremona Competition. She is co-soloist on viola with the Leipzig MDR-Sinfonieorchester and has begun a doctoral programme at Hamburg University of Music and Theatre under the supervision of Daniel Barenboim. She was a mentor at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. She regularly plays a modern viola by Patrick Robin.
